HAWARDEN - The South O'Brien varsity baketball squads traveled here Friday night, Dec. 14, for a pair of War Eagle Conference games, and when they left town, it was the Falcons of West Sioux who were celebrating a sweep over the Wolverines. In the girls' contest, West Sioux led all the way, as the Falcons improved their record to 6-1 with a 52-30 win over Julie Pailsen's Wolverines. Reagan Ebel and Megan McCauley led Wolverine scoring with six points each, West Sioux was led by Rachel Weerheim with 13 points and Bobbi McManaman with 10.
In the boys' contest, it was a closer game,as the Wolverines held a two-point lead going into the fourth quarter before falling to the Falcons 43-40. Jared Syndergaard scored 16 and Andy Puhrman 15 to lead the South O'Brien attack. West Sioux had three players score in double figures - Jesse Artzch and Jared Reinking with 11 points and Johnny Strong with 10.
