SCHALLER - The Bulldogs of Aurelia played two Northwest Conference basketball contests here on Tuesday Dec. 18 against the Schaller-Crestland Rockets, and the home team took both contests. In the opener, the Bulldogs of Coach Tim Galvin, a Schaller-Crestland alum, had a tough time against the Wildcat duo of Chelsea Clayton and Roxanne Grundmeier. Clayton had a "double-double" against the Bulldog girls, scoring 22 points and grabbing 12 rebounds, while Grundmeier had 16 points and eight boards. Leah Kai led Bulldog scoring and rebounding with eight points and six boards. Freshman Meghan Glawe had ten rebounds and her classmate Audrey Winterhof had five points, three rebounds, and three steals.

In the boys' contest, the Wildcats led at all the stops - 13-8, 28-19 and 38- 32, before a 17-10 fourth quarter gave the host team a 55-42 win. The Bulldogs hit just 38.2% from the field, including a frigid 3 for 19 (15.8%) from three-point range. The Bulldogs did hit 100% of their free throws, but only had three attempts. The 'Dogs also committed 11 turnovers. Junior Aaron Bruce led Aurelia's scoring with 14 points, while fellow big man Jordan Glawe registered 13. Glawe also snagged six boards, second on the team to Camrin Meyer, who grabbed nine caroms. The junior Meyer also had five assists on the night, second to point guard Jared Bruce, who dished out six, and also had three steals on the defensive end of the court. Meyer had two blocked shots. Schaller-Crestland was led by a trio of double-figure scorers - Matt Struchen with 15 points, Collin Johnson with 13, and Kiley Murra, who had 11 points to go with his nine rebounds and five assists.
