NEWELL - The Aurelia boys played the host Mustangs here in Northwest Conference basketball action on Friday Dec. 21. Newell-Fonda had a three-point lead after the first quarter, and increased it to 12 at the half and 13 after three quarters, before outscoring the Bulldogs 27-6 in the fourth quarter, to make the final score 86-52 in favor of Newell-Fonda.

Individually, Jared Bruce scored 18 points to lead the Bulldogs in scoring, while brother Aaron Bruce scored 13, Camrin Meyer 12, and Jordan Glawe seven. Meyer had 11 rebounds to lead the 'Dogs in that category, while Jared Bruce had eight steals and five assists. The Mustangs had four players score in double figures, led by Nathan Schumann and Brad Anderson, who had 15 apiece.

In the girls' contest, the Aurelia team also had a long night, losing to the home team by an 82-28 score. Individually, Leah Kai had 12 points,11 rebounds, four assists and one blocked shot to lead the team in all those categories. Meghan Glawe had six points and four rebounds; Tiffany Johnson five points and eight rebounds; and erin had three steals on defense.
