Katharina "Katie" Marie Meyer was born Sept. 18, 1911 at her parents' home in Boyden, the daughter of Henry and Marie (Binder) Meyer. Katie married Waldo Dickman on Jan. 7, 1931, at her parents' home.
To this union three children were born: Leroy, Lloyd, and Virgil. She was a stay-at-home mom, except for eight years when she worked in the school lunchroom in Holstein. Katie enjoyed going to dances with her husband in their younger years, and in recent years was active in the Red Hats Society, playing cards, and bowling at the nursing home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, Lloyd Dickman, a great-grandchild, Tyler Christoffel, a great-great-grandson, Koy Robinson, a great-great granddaughter Bailey Werle, four brothers and three sisters.
Those left to cherish her memory include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Leroy and Mary Dickman of Sac City, Betty Dickman of Kingsley, and Virgil and Melva Dickman of Coon Rapids; grandchildren, Joan, Kathy, Nancy, Mike, Ann, Donald, Denice, Debra, Donna, Dixie, Darla, Dale, Peggy, Kendall, Stanley, Gary, and Sharlene; forty-four great-grandchildren; fourteen great-great grandchildren; and a sister Emma Woelber of George.
