A farewell to a fellow firefighter

Wednesday, January 16, 2008

For well over 20 years, Jerry Tuttle of rural Washta was a mainstay of the Washta Fire Department. Over the years as a volunteer "smoke eater," Jerry turned in a wide variety of duties... a list that ranged from terms as treasurer and assistant fire chief to "head spatula handler" at countless fire station barbecues and cook-outs.

When Jerry unexpectedly passed away a few days ago, the Washta firemen gave this one last salute to their fellow firefighter - an individual who will be missed by the fire fighters and the entire community. Photo by Ron Flewelling.
