Hard-fought game goes to Falcons in the end
IDA GROVE - The River Valley Wolverines and host Battle Creek-Ida Grove played a hard-fought Maple Valley Conference basketball game here Jan. 11th, with quarter scores of 13-12, RV; 32-31, BCIG; and 44-43, BCIG. In the end - largely because of a 20-22 free throw performance by the Falcons, as opposed to 6-13 by the Wolverines- BCIG won the contest by a 64-54 score.
RV coach Dean Norris said, "Zach Hullinger played a great game with 20 points and five rebounds, while Anthony Volkert added 17 points and 10 rebounds."
Tyler Clark scored seven points for the Wolverines, dished out three assists, and he,too, snagged five rebounds, as did Austin Hansen.
Point guard Samuel Lundt did not score, but, said coach Norris, "did an excellent job handling the ball against the BCIG pressure defense."
