Nelson runs for Mustangs

VERMILLION, S.D. - Morningside College won two events at the Bill Hillenbrand Open indoor track meet run at USD on Jan. 19 and 20.

Freshman Ryan Gass cleared 6-5 in the men's high jump to take first place, and the Mustangs also won the women's 3200-meter relay in a time of 10:01.59. Cherokee's Kara Nelson, a freshman, ran the third leg of the relay. Other relay members were Erin Keitges,a sophomore from Allen, Neb.; Janae Williams, a freshman from Harlan; and Annie McInnis, a senior from Omaha, Neb.

Nelson also finished third in the women's mile run with a time of 5:17.16.
