Aurelia girls tops St. Mary's

STORM LAKE - The Aurelia Bulldog girls outscored the Storm Lake St. Mary's Panthers 13-0 in the third quarter of their conference game here on Jan. 22 to break open a tight, low-scoring contest on the way to a 40-30 Northwest Conference win.

After holding a 13-11 lead at the half, the Bulldogs increased their lead to 26-11 when the third quarter buzzer sounded.

Freshman Meghan Glawe led the Bulldogs in both scoring and rebounding on the night, collecting a "double-double" with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Leah Kai scored nine points for Coach Tim Galvin's Bulldog squad, and Audrey Winterhof chipped in with eight more.

Kai and Winterhof each had three steals on the defensive end of the court, and senior point guard Kai also dished out five assists to lead the team in that area. Tiffany Johnson, Erin Laursen, and Leah Kai snared seven, seven, and five rebounds respectively, sharing the board honors with Glawe. Jennifer Dimig led the Panthers with 12 points.
