Jane Schmillen has worked as a hairstylist in Cherokee for 30 years, and on Monday Feb. 4, she fulfilled a dream and opened her own business, Jane's Sanford Lane Salon, at 114 East Main Street in Cherokee. The business will provide hairstyling and other beauty needs for customers.

Joining Jane in the new business are stylists Lynda Oster, Tracy Fredericksen and Kelly Phipps Lundell. Jada Rapp Jones will be available on Thursday evenings, by appointment, for those who would like to schedule bikini and leg waxing, and KPTH TV personality "Jackie" will offer her makeup expertise, also by appointment. Jackie, of course, is Jackie Schmillen, the daughter of Jane and her husband Joe.

Among the special areas in the Sanford Lane Salon are a special men's styling room; a private room for waxing, ear candling, and facials; an area for manicures/pedicures; and a massage chair.
