Galva-Holstein led at the first and third quarter breaks by slim margins and the game was tied at 36 at half-time. When the final buzzer sounded, the Pirates had come away with a hard-earned 68-63 victory over the Rockets.
A pleased Galva-Holstein coach Bob Lee said, "We played a good game against a good opponent. Remsen is a team that likes to fast break and keep the pace fast. We did a good job tonight of breaking when it was there and setting up a half court offense when it wasn't. Our guys showed a lot of poise and teamwork."
Individually for the Pirates, Taylor Nees led four double-digit scorers with 18 points, while Mark Cronin added 15, Ben Andresen 12 and Sam Radke 10. Nees also led the way on the boards with nine rebounds, aided by Andresen and Cronin with six and five boards, respectively.
Andresen also contributed seven assists and three steals, while Radke had two of each. Taylor Van Dam, with 20 points, and Kraig Alesch, with 15, paced the R-U scoring.
Galva-Holstein now has a 6-5 conference mark and is 10-9 overall.
