The 'Dogs jumped out to a 21-5 lead after one quarter, "then kind of sagged a bit," said Bulldog coach Grant Peckenschneider. "We needed to put them away in the second quarter," said Peck,"but they fought hard and made a game of it." The Bulldog lead had been cut to 40-31 as the fourth quarter began, but the 'Dogs came through to win by 16.
Jared and Aaron Bruce each scored 23 points in pacing the Bulldogs' offense. Aaron had 19 of his 23 points in the first half and "Jared hit some big three's when we needed some points in the second half," said the Bulldog coach, who was especially pleased with his team's low turnover total of 10.
Jared Bruce had a good all-around game. His 23 points included 5-10 shooting on three-pointers and 6-6 from the free throw line, and he also had eight assists, seven rebounds, and three steals. Aaron Bruce had 10 rebounds and Camrin Meyer eight boards for the 'Dogs.
Coach Peck is very pleased that his team ended the season playing good ball going into the tournament.
"Finishing 10-11 after a 1-5 start isn't too bad," he said. "But now we're ready to see if we can make some noise in the tournament."
