Cherokee's Tyler Jones earned second-team All-Lakes Conference basketball honors announced this week.
The 6-0 junior was the Braves' lone pick on the first and second All-Lakes Conference teams, as selected by the coaches. No honorable mention selections were submitted to the Chronicle Times.
Lakes champs Hull Western Christian landed three players on the first team in junior Trevor Wolterstorf, senior Jeremy Zeutenhorst, and Shawn Keizer, a junior transfer from Sioux Center. Runner-up Spencer had two first-team picks in junior Kyle Fitch, and senior Dan Johnson. Other first-team selections included senior Tyler Westphal of Le Mars, junior Andy Dykstra of Sheldon, senior Andy Pringnitz of Spirit Lake, and senior Jesse Munger of Storm Lake.
Fitch and Westphal were unanimous first-team picks.
Other second-team picks were senior Nolan Goeken and junior Chris Fitzpatrick of Spencer; senior Kevin Fopma of HWC; senior Matt DeJong of Sheldon; junior Trevor Dettman of Emmetsburg; junior Tyler Solsma of Spirit Lake; senior AJ Croker of Storm Lake; junior Taylor Oetken of Le Mars; and senior Matt Gruhlke of Estherville-LC.
Spirit Lake's John Walz was Coach of the Year.
