PAULLINA - The season statistics for the South O'Brien varsity boys' basketball team were released this week.
The Wolverines averaged 60.8 points per game on offfense, while their defense held opponents to a per game average of 51.2.
Individually, 6-1 senior Andy Puhrmann scored 487 points (20.3 ave.) on 48% field goal shooting (52 on two-pointers and 45% on three-point attempts). Puhrmann was also second on the team in rebounds (95/4.0) and steals (31/1.3). The Wolverines' 6-2 sophomore Jarod Syndergaard led the team in those two categories, grabbing 107 rebounds (4.5) and stealing 43 opponent passes (1.8). Syndergaard shot 47% on field goals (49% on twos, 42% on threes). Both Puhrmann and Syndergaard hit an excellent 80% of their free throw attempts for the season, and Syndergaard averaged 14.0 points per game.
SOS's 6-4 sophomore Ryan Brasser was the Wolverines' third leading scorer for the season, averaging 9.7 ppg on 49% FG shooting and 70% from the line. Seniors Nic Faust (6.3 ppg) and Aaron Giese (5.0 ppg) finished 4th and 5th in team scoring.
