Nelson places in two track events

LINCOLN, Neb. - Morningside freshman Kara Nelson, a 2007 Cherokee Washington graduate, placed in two individual events at Saturday's GPAC Indoor Track and Field Championships here.

Nelson finished second in the women's 3000 meter run, running in a time of 10:24.52, and also captured fifth place in the women's mile run. Nelson ran that event in 5:12.92.

Morningside's women scored 58.33 points to finish fifth in the 11-team field, The Morningside men, led by freshman high jumper Ryan Gass' first-place 6-8 leap, took sixth in the 12-team men's field with 40 points.
