BVU track coach Renetta Seiler
STORM LAKE -- Buena Vista University Director of Athletics Jan Travis has announced the hiring of Renetta Seiler as the Beavers' new head track and field coach. Seiler will officially begin at BVU on August 1.

"I am very delighted to have such a high-caliber individual as Renetta joining our coaching staff," Travis stated. "I have extreme confidence that she will do a great job and will lead our program to the next level."

Seiler is a 2000 graduate of Kansas State University where she turned in a stellar collegiate career for the Wildcats. She was a three-time All-American in both the hammer throw and the 20# weight throw, a four-time All-American discus thrower, as well as an All-American in the shot put. She holds school records in both the hammer throw (209'4") and the weight throw (69'2.5"). In addition, she was a seven-time Big XII Conference Champion and was a 1997 World Games finalist in the hammer throw.

"I'm extremely excited to join the Buena Vista family and to begin developing a team that can contend on both a conference and national level," Seiler said. "My big goal is to build on the past success of the program and see records fall, while at the same time, seeing the teams finish in the top-half of the conference each year."

Upon graduating from KSU, Seiler began her coaching career by serving as a graduate assistant for the Wildcats (2000-01) before serving as an assistant coach in 2001-02. From there, she moved on as an assistant coach at the University of Miami (2002-05) where she was part of eight conference championship teams as a coach. During her tenure, school records were broken 29 times in three years, and she also coached both indoor and outdoor conference and national champions.

Seiler currently serves as an assistant coach at the University of Northern Iowa where she oversees both the men's and women's throwers. She has been responsible for coaching Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) conference indoor and outdoor champions, top-10 national place winners, NCAA Indoor and Outdoor All-Americans, a Drake Relays Champion, MVC Most Valuable Female Athlete, along with seeing six school records broken 31 times in two seasons.

"Coach Seiler is a terrific hire and a winner," says BVU President Fred Moore. "Renetta is a six-time All-American and seven-time Big 12 Champion. During her career, she has coached a plethora of national champions, All-Americans and record-setting student-athletes. We could not be happier about her decision to join the BVU Community."

Seiler is an Algona native, was a state champion in shot put and discus at Algona Garrigan, and graduated with a bachelor's degree from KSU in education.
