Tom Hohbach Construction of Marcus is in charge. Hohbach has enlisted other area crews to assist him in getting it up quickly as winter weather had made it impossible to get it started. Those who are working together getting it done include Paul and Andy Busch, Rory Means, Dave McIntosh and Damon Busse.
The 16-unit motel is being built using SIP panels (prebuilt insulated panels) which are energy efficient allowing to walls go up fast. The buildings cost will be the same as a normal stick building, according to contractors.
The board had estimates on all building materials which formed their budget to erect the building. They took bids on everything to ensure the building stays within it's budget to live up to their word with stockholders.
The board is hoping that there are some folks in the area who would like to donate some money (cash or check) for some accessories for the motel in memory or in honor of a loved one. This could include money to go towards a tree or bush or benches for outside the motel. The board could use some help with decorating accessories for inside the motel such as pictures and so forth which would all be selected by a committee so that everything will be coordinated.
Small brass name plates would be put on where it is appropriate. One may call Doris Downs at 376-4807 for further information.
The board has hired Jackie Johnson of Marcus to be the manager of the motel. She will begin her duties in late May. Reservations have been accepted. Others may do the same by calling Brenda Werthman at 376-2434.
On Monday, March 31, at the Marcus Pizza Ranch, the board will be present from 5 to 7 p.m to answer any questions one might have about the motel. There are still just a few shares remaining for anyone who might be interested in owning one. Shares are $1,000 each. They are hoping a few folks might be interested as they watch the motel take shape.
