Pearson, Schuett, Lugar pace Cherokee
VERMILLION, S.D. - A partial Cherokee Braves track and field squad fared well in the USD Midwest Indoor Championships here on March 22, keyed by Luke Pearson winning the 1000-meter run in a time of 3:02.77.
Kyle Schuett and Drew Lugar earned runner-up finishes in their specialties, with Schuett clocking 7.23 seconds in the 60 meters, and Lugar timed in 9.02 seconds in the 60-yard high hurdles.
Dan Bieber claimed third place in the 500 meters in a time of 1:15.2, and was 11th in the 1000 meters in 3:21.70. Lugar was fourth in the 400 meters in 55.55, and Bieber eighth in 58.57. Pearson was sixth in the 500 meters in 1:16.7.
Other top individual finishes for the Braves were Nick O'Bryan 11th in the 3000 meters in 10:54.52, and 13th in the 1500 meters in a time of 4:58.7.
Cherokee's 4x200 relay unit of Schuett, Lugar, Philip Bieber, and Dan Bieber placed fourth in a time of 1:39.5.
The Braves placed eighth in the 14-team field with 41 points.
