G-H, S-C approve football sharing

Thursday, April 3, 2008

The Galva-Holstein and Schaller-Crestland Boards of Education have each approved the plan for their schools to participate in a shared football program for the next two seasons (2008 and 2009).

The team will be called the Buffalo Ridge Bison, and the shared program has been assigned to District 2 in Class 2A by the Iowa High School Athletic Association.

The team colors will be a combination of the G-H and S-C colors - Orange, black, and gold. Former G-H head coach Butch Faulkenberry and former S-C head coach Dale Tokheim will be the co-head coaches of the team. Assistant Coaches will be those who assisted at both schools last year, unless someone chooses not to return.

The home games will be split between Holstein and Early, and Galva-Holstein is the host school.

Other members of the 2A District include Cherokee Washington, Clarion-Goldield, Eagle Grove, East Sac County, Humboldt, Okoboji, and Pocahontas Area.

The Bison's non-district games will be against Battle Creek-Ida Grove and Newell-Fonda, with the possibility of a third non-district game against River Valley.
