Christopher L. Harkins 33, of Ute, a former Cherokee resident, died Saturday March 22, 2008. Visitation was held on March 27 at the Armstrong Funeral Home at 210 South Day Avenue in Ute. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m., and burial will be in Oregon at a later date.
Christopher Lee Harkins was born March 14, 1975, in Spokane, Wash., the son of Ralph Shaw and Margaret Harkins. He grew up and was educated on the west coast, and lived in Oregon until 1998. He then moved to Cherokee. Chris moved to Ute in 2005, and was employed by Johnson Construction of Ute at the time of his death.
Survivors include his parents Ralph and Margaret of Coos Bay, Oregon; a grandfather, Chester Harkins of Mapleton; grandmother, Ruth Burchan of Ute; three daughters, April and Sarah Harkins of Cherokee and Elizabeth Adams of Ida Grove; one brother, James Harkins and one sister Shalae Shaw, both of whom live in Oregon; and numerous other relatives.
