Indians sweep WHS tennis girls

SPIRIT LAKE - The traditionally tough Spirit Lake Park Indians swept the singles and doubles matches to take a season-opening 9-0 decision over Cherokee in Lakes Conference girls tennis action here Thursday.

In varsity singles, Cherokee's Shannon Schroeder lost 10-2 to Alli Gerking at number one, Allie Parker fell 10-5 to Aubry Kolegraff at two, Demi Dunn lost 10-5 to Kassie Hein at three, Michelle McGarry fell 10-0 to Cassidy Clarity at four, Sofia Seliger lost 10-0 to Kara Cosgrove at five, and Marissa Lessler lost 10-2 to Shirley Coenen at six.

In doubles action, Schroeder and Dunn lost 10-5 to Gerking and Kolegraff at number one, Parker and Jessica Cedar fell 10-4 to Hein and Cosgrove at two, and mCgarry and Leissler lost 10-2 to Kylie Stoli and Clarity at three.

Cherokee also was swept in JV action 9-0, winning just five total points in the nine matches.

In JV singles, Korrianne Aguirre lost 8-0 at number one, Sydney Morton lost 8-0 at two, Amanda Kohn lost 8-0 at three, Aurora Buschkamp fell 8-1 at four, Hillary Wilkie lost 8-0 at five, and Sanna Miller fell 8-2 at six.

In JV doubles, Aguirre and Morton lost 8-0 at number one, Kohn and Jenae Lundell fell 8-0 at two, and Kelsery Raper and Amber Melton lost 8-2 at three.

The Cherokee girls have a busy week, hosting Estherville-LC tonight, traveling to Storm Lake Tuesday night, and playing at Spencer Thursday night.
