Officer receives recognition

Monday, April 14, 2008

Cherokee police officer Adam Roberts, a two-year veteran of the force, was presented with a certificate of appreciation - the Federal Law Enforcement Victim Service Award - on Tuesday April 8. Roberts was cited for his alert and sensitive handling of two sexual assault cases in Cherokee. Julie Schulenberg, the Cherokee/Ida County Coordinator for the Centers Against Abuse and Sexual Assault (CAASA) happily presented the certificate to Roberts. Schulenberg hopes that the manner in which Officer Roberts handled the situations will give any future victims of the woefully under-reported crime the courage to report it to the police. April 13-19 is National Victims' Right Week. Photo by Dan Whitney
