MMC wrestlers honored at banquet

MARCUS - Seniors Luke Dreckman and Ben Mayer earned awards of distinction at the recent Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn post-season Wrestling Banquet.

Dreckman was named a team captain, Most Improved, and Outstanding Leader for the eagles after fashioning a 12-16 record for the year. Mayer was 30-11 this season and was awarded team captain, Dynamic Heart, and Most Valuable.

Of the five juniors on the squad, Blaine Dammann (21-15) was given the No Excuses Award, Dan Holmes (14-19) the Guts & Glory Award, Jacob Lehnhoff (27-7) the Outstanding Junior Award, Jerad Letsche (28-9) the Coaches Team Player Award and MVP Award, and Jordan Petersen (14-13) the Team Attitude Award.

Sophomore Russ Godbersen (31-6) earned the Most Wins Award, Outstanding Sophomore Award, and 2-time State Qualifier plaque. Sophomore Taylor Witzel (16-19) received the Most Durable Award.

Freshman Blake Erdman was 6-3 before sidleined with injury. He received the Next Year Award. Freshman Jeff Tentinger also ws acknowledged for his 10-13 record this season.
