ALTA - On a warm, but extremely windy, day April 15th, the Aurelia Bulldog boys' track team finished second to the host Alta Cyclones at the Alta Co-Ed Relays, despite having only eight athletes participating.

The Cyclones scored 200 points to the Bulldogs' 118, as Remsen St. Mary's, Storm Lake St. Mary's and Pomeroy-Palmer rounded out the five-team field with scores of 74, 50, and 44 points, respectively.

Aurelia senior standout Jared Bruce was an amazing four-time winner on the day, taking the 3200 meter run in 10:47.07, and following that up with wins in the 1600 meters (5:13.93) and 800 meters (2:18.07). Oh, and for good measure, Jared anchored the 'Dogs to a victory in the meet's final event, the 4x400 meter relay, which the team ran in 3:49.30.

Other winners for the Bulldogs included Aaron Bruce, who won the 400 meters in a personal-best time of 57.62, and Brandon Pedersen, who won the high jump with a leap of 5-8. Pedersen also finished second to Jared Bruce in the 1600 meter run, running the event in a time of 5:29.38.

The Bulldog team of Jacob Howey, Andrew Sangwin, Jason Glienke and Aaron Bruce took third place in the 4x800 relay, running a time of 11:18.77; the medley relay team of Howey, Anthony Fowler, Aaron Bruce and Pedersen was second (4:11.72); the 4x100 relay (Howey, Sangwin, Glienke and Eliot Zadow) was third, in 55.00; and the 4x200 (Howey,Sangwin,Glienke and Zadow) finished fourth in a time of 1:53.09. Fowler took fourth in both the 100 meters (11.93) and 200 meters (25.13).

The Aurelia girls team, short a few athletes due to their being with the Jazz Band at the State Jazz Championships, finished fifth, with 40 points.

Winning first for the Aurelia girls were Shaina Thevenin with a 13.94 clocking in the 100 meters; and the 4x100 relay of Courtney Bruce, Regan Hinkel, Thevenin, and Meghan Glawe timed in 58.08.

Glawe was second in the 200 meters in a time of 31.14; and the 4x200 relay of Thevenin, Henkel, Glawe, and Aryka Hendrix was second in 2:07.61. Thevenin also placed third in the long jump with a 13-10 1/4 effort, and Bruce was third in the 100 meters in 15.39. Amber Loucks was fourth in the shot put with a 27-1 1/2 heave.
