EMMETSBURG - The Cherokee Braves placed second at a Lakes Conference boys golf triangular here on Apr. 14, totaling 167 to winning Emmetsburg's 153. Estherville-LC was third with a 201.
Brock Benson was low medal for the Braves with a 39, followed by Matt Pitts 40, David Cook 42, Scott Brown 46, and Andrew Braun 46. Also for the Braves, Wayne Thompson carded a 51.
There was a three-way tie for medalist with host Emmetsburg's Robbie Meyers, Tyler Kliegl, and Marc Siemers all shooting 38s.
Cherokee also was second to the E-Hawks in the JV match, carding a 204, to Emmetsburg's 169, and E-LC's 228.
Paxton O'Connor was low for the Young Braves with a 46, followed by Tom Weaver 52, Tyler Lundsgaard 52, and Austin Mongan 55. Zac Woods shot 69 for Cherokee.
"We had a really nice day to play golf in Emmetsburg," said Cherokee coach James DeVos. "The guys again played well and improved their total compared to last meet which is a testament to how hard they are working. Brock really stepped up with a 39."
