SPENCER - Host Spencer won the annual Spencer Boys Invitational golf meet here on April 12 , carding a 157 to runner-up Carroll's 163.
The 18-hole meet was shortened to nine holes due to inclement weather, including intermittent rain and high winds.
Humboldt finished third with a 168, followed by Carroll Kuemper 171, Cherokee 179, Spencer JV 184, and Forest City 205.
Kirby Petitt of Carroll was medalist with a 34, and Spencer's Craig Cunningham was runner-up with a 38.
David Cook led Cherokee after carding a 43, followed by Matt Pitts 44, Andy Braun 45, Scott Brown 47, and Brock Benson 47. Wayne Thompson shot 53 for the Braves.
"It was a rough day to play golf," said Cherokee coach Jame DeVos. "The elements were really working aganst all the players on the course. It was pretty evident as several teams shot scores a bit higher than their seasonal averages.
"Our guys hung in there and managed to be competitive and block the cold out of their minds. I'm sure they will defintely be looking forward to warmer, sunnier days."
