SLP blitzes Cherokee tennis girls

The Spirit Lake Park girls tennis team overcame the chilly, breezy weather conditions to record a convincing 9-0 victory over the Cherokee Washington High girls here on April 21, the talented Indians' second shut out of Cherokee this season.

In varsity singles for Cherokee, Shannon Schroeder lost 10-0 to Alli Gerking at number one, Allie Parker lost 10-3 to Kassie Hein at two, Demi Dunn lost 10-3 to Cassidy Clarity at three, Michelle McGarry lost 10-4 to Kara Cosgrove at four, Sofie Seliger lost 10-0 to Shirley Coermer at five, and Korriane Aguirre lost 10-0 to Kathleen Rowley at six.

In varsity doubles action, Schroeder and McGarry dropped a 10-1 verdict to Gerking and Clarity at number one, Parker and Dunn fell 10-1 to Cosgrove and Kylie Stoll at two, and Seliger and Aguirre lost 10-1 to Hein and Rowley at three.

Cherokee's JV also was swept 9-0 by the Young Indians.

In JV singles for Cherokee, Sydney Morton lost 8-0 at number one, Sanna Miller lost 8-2 at two, Amanda Kohn lost 8-2 at three, Hillary Wilkie lost 8-0 at four, Kelsey Raper lost 8-2 at five, and Jenae Lundell lost 8-0 at six.

In JV doubles, Morton and Miller lost 8-5 at number one, Kohn and Wilkie fell 8-1 at two, and Aurora Buschkamp and Amber Melton lost 8-0 at three.
