SOS, MMC, RV boys compete at Hinton meet

HINTON - The South O'Brien, Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn, and River Valley boys competed in the Blackhawk Relays in Hinton on Apr. 17th, with the SOS Wolverines taking 4th place in Class A team standings, and the Eagles finishing third, and the RV Wolverines fifth in Class B.

South O'Brien's Aaron Giese won the Class A discus with a throw of 138-0, and also placed second in the shot put, with a toss of 42-5 1/2. The Wolverines' Reese Powers finished third in the 3200 meter run, with a time of 11:09.69 and Keegan Hicks won the 1600 meter run in 4:58.57. The Wolverines' medley relay finished second and their 4x200 relay third.

For the Eagles, freshman Jay Welp won first place medals in the 1600 (5:07.87), 3200 (10:57.23) and 800 meter (time unavailable) runs.

Alex Roseen took second in the Class B discus with a toss of 126-6, just three inches out of first place; in the 110 high hurdles, Eagles Will Hanson (16.43) and Jordan Boekhout (17.4) took first and third, respectively; Boekhout also finished second in the 400 hurdles (1:03.75); the Eagle relay teams won the 4x400 (4:26.51), and finished second in the 4x800 (9:56.56) and shuttle hurdles (1:06.8).

River Valley finished second in the 4x200 (1:40.77) and distance medley (3:56.31) relays, and third (3:54) in the 4x400.
