AURELIA - The Cherokee Washington High School boys' golf team took a 10-stroke victory over second-place Sioux Center High School in the Aurelia Invitational, played April 19th at the Aurelia Golf Club.
Cherokee totaled 316 strokes to Sioux Center's 326. Kingsley-Pierson finished third, with 336 strokes, followed by the host Aurelia squad (341) and Woodbury Central (343).
Cherokee's Brock Benson was the meet medalist with a 74, and Sioux Center's Aaron Rozeboom was runner-up medalist with a 76.
Other scorers for Cherokee were David Cook, 79; Andy Braun, 81; and Matt Pitts, 82. Casey Cuthrell (88) and Scott Brown (95) also competed for the Braves.
Aurelia was led by Greg Kolpin with an 82, and Cam Meyer (85), Jared Heubrock (86), and Nick Felten (88) also contributed to the Bulldogs' team score. Nick Hirschman (97) and Dalton Jones (107) also played for Aurelia.
Galva-Holstein placed 7th with a team score of 362. Pirate golfers were John Lorenzen (83), John Forristal (88), Kyle Yearous (91), Adam Parker (100) and Derek Hadden (105)
