Gimped Braves run at Spencer Relays

SPENCER - A partial Cherokee Braves track and field squad came home with two third-place finishes at the recent Spencer Relays.

The Braves have been fighting nagging injuries to several performers and they did not compete at Spencer.

Drew Lugar clocked a 15.78 time in the 110 hurdles to claim third place, and the Braves' shuttle hurdle relay of Lugar, Matt Koch, Kyle Schuck, and Nolan Sampson was third in a time of 1:03.78.

Le Mars won the meet with 137 points, and Emmetsburg was second with 100, followed by Sheldon 76, Spencer 74, Estherville-LC 72, Hull Western Christian 66, Cherokee 14, and Storm Lake JV 0.

In JV action at Spencer, Sampson was second in the high jump with a 5-2 effort, and Brock Dagel was fourth in the discus with a throw of 100-2. The medley relay of Dagel, Kristian Freed, Sampson, and Jakob Hummel was fifth in 4:20.85.
