The Cherokee chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, an Honorary Sorority of Educators, recently awarded scholarships, in the form of a $200 check, to the following college graduates as they begin their teaching careers: Abbey Mayer, daughter of Bill and Deb Mayer of Marcus, is a graduate of Iowa State University, and majored in Special Education and Reading; Mary Beth Staver, daughter of Larry and Mary Pigott of Cherokee, is a graduate of Augustana College who majored in Spanish, Education and minored in English; and Miranda Galvin, daughter of Ted and Sonia Galvin of Cherokee, is a graduate of Morningside College who majored in Elementary and Special Education.
Alpha Delta Kappa seeks to encourage prospective teachers through these scholarships.
