Cherokee girls play in Regional tennis

SPENCER - The Girls' Regional Individual and Doubles Tennis Tornament was played here on Thursday May 15. For Cherokee, Demi Dunn played #1 singles and Michelle McGarry #2 singles. Dunn won her first match, over Lexi Hash of Estherville-Lincoln Central, 6-0, 6-2, and lost to Hannah Maertens of Spencer in the second round, 1-6. 5-7. McGarry lost in the first round to Abby Smith of Storm Lake 1-6, 0-6.

The #1 doubles team, Shannon Schroeder and Allie Parker, won their first round match, over Ft. Dodge St. Edmond, 6-4, 6-4, and lost their second round match, against Spirit Lake-Okoboji 0-6, 2-6.

The #2 doubles team, Marissa Leissler and Sanna Miller, lost to Denison in the first round of play, 0-6,0-6.

The tournament marked the end of the season for Coach Jan Tracy's Cherokee squad.
