The River Valley School Board accepted resignations and extended contracts at the monthly meeting on May 19.
The board accepted the resignation of Matt Jenness as assistant girls' varsity basketball coach prior to extending him a contract as head varsity girls' varsity basketball coach.
A resignation was accepted from Denise Knaack as elementary music teacher. A resignation was accepted from Kent Bass as high school PE teacher, head football coach, head baseball coach (at the end of the upcoming season) and assistant track coach. A resignation was accepted from Allison Bass as football cheerleader sponsor. A resignation was accepted from Sharon Dugan as custodian.
A contract was offered to Amy Watts as teacher and media specialist (librarian). She will also manage the website. A contract was approved for Teena Dreckman as technology coordinator. A contract was approved for Byron Groen as maintenance director.
Kirk Utesch was appointed board vice president, filling a vacancy created by resignation earlier this year.
The board approved early retirement policies for teachers and support staff. The early retirement policy for teachers is an update of a previous policy. The support staff policy is new, offering the option to staff previously not eligible for early retirement.
The school board will be meeting with representatives from three architectural firms in June to consider options for expansion of the building in Correctionville to replacement of portable classrooms.
The board approved summer work projects, including carpeting nine classrooms and several other items of repair or improvement.
