REMSEN - The gritty Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn softball team battled back from a four-run deficit with a three-run fourth inning, but fell short after that, falling 4-3 to Remsen St. Mary's here on May 19th.
Sephanie Specht suffered the pitching loss for the Eagles, allowing two earned runs on six hits and two walks, with six strikeouts in seven innings of work.
MMC managed four hits off Hawks' pitcher Feller, with Kayla Foresman, Andrea Doeden, Jackie Holmes, and Emily Peck accounting for those.
The Eagles' three-run fourth came on a single by Foresman, a walk to Whitney Walton, and back-to-back singles by Doeden and Holmes, with the inning ending with Holmes stranded on third base.
Krier had two hits and scored two runs to pace the Hawks, while Loutsch stroked a double and scored a run for the winners.
