CORRECTIONVILLE - Katie Carnes had four hits in as many trips to pace the River Valley softball team to a 4-1 victory over Storm Lake St. Mary's here on May 20th.

Alissa Slota and Shelby Chester cracked two hits apiece for the winners, while Wolverine pitcher Jody Peterson allowed just four hits and struck out four in seven innings of work.

River Valley, coached this year by Wolverine graduate Erica Slota, plays in the Kingsley-Pierson Tournament Saturday, and hosts Odebolt-Arthur in Maple Valley Conference action on May 27.

The Wolverines return a solid nucleus of players this year from last year's squad that made it to the 1A Substate finals.
