Lady Pirates fall to Lawton-Bronson

Monday, June 2, 2008

LAWTON - The Galva-Holstein girls lost a 9-1 decision to a talented Lawton-Bronson squad in Maple Valley Conference softball action here on Thursday. Jaime Christensen took the loss on the mound, giving up six hits, striking out five and walking one while going the entire seven innings. Christensen gave up only two earned runs, as the other seven runs were unearned due to G-H defensive lapses.

At the plate, Michaela Else had a double and drove in the lone run for the Lady Pirates, and Brittney Ridder also had a double. Coach Scott Phelps said he was disappointed with the team's defense this season, and that the will continue to work on tightening up the "D," and not allowing their opponents a chance to have a big inning against them.

The loss drops the Lady Pirates' season record to 2-2. Their next contest will be at Alta tonight.
