Katie Carnes of Cherokee, Jodi Husman of Aurelia, Drew Lugar of Cherokee and Jill Bird of Marcus were recognized by Governor Chet Culver for outstanding academic achievement at the sixth annual Governor's Scholar Recognition Ceremony on April 27 at Hy-Vee Hall in Des Moines. The statewide program, sponsored by the Iowa Governor's Office, Iowa High School Athletic Association and its title sponsor, the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation.

Carnes is a student at River Valley High School in Correctionville, Husman at Aurelia Community School, Lugar at Cherokee Washington, and Bird at Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn.
