Drennan's 3-4 night leads WHS softball team

Visiting Estherville-LC unleashed a potent hitting attack on the way to a decisive 12-5 bashing of Cherokee in Lakes Conference softball action here Tuesday night.

The Midgets pounded out 11 hits off losing Cherokee pitcher Shauna Drefke, who gave up just four earned runs while striking out two in her seven innings of work.

Lacie Drennan paced the Cherokee offense with three hits in four trips, an RBI, and two runs scored. Kelsie Peterson had two hits in four at-bats for the hosts.

Also getting hits for Cherokee were Kelsey Essick, Alison Husman, Drefke, and Lynn Carlson. Essick also had an RBI and run scored, and Husman scored a run. Carlson tallied one RBI and pinch runner Sara Ruehle also scored a run.

Drennan, Peterson, Husman, and Essick each stroked doubles for Cherokee.

Now 2-1 for the season, the Cherokee Washington High gals played at Sheldon on May 30th, and participate in the Humboldt Tournament on May 31.
