Cherokee State Bank has announced the creation of an incentive program offered by the bank that is available to all 2008 Cherokee Washington High School graduates.

The program, "Make Cherokee Your Home!" offers an incentive of $1,000 to WHS graduates who return to Cherokee County to live and work after continuing their education.

To be eligible, the graduate must successfully complete an academic program consisting of a minimum of a semester and receive a certificate or diploma. After completion, the graduate must reside in and work fulltime in Cherokee County for one year before applying for the incentive.

Michael Hunter, president of Cherokee State Bank, said, "Cherokee State Bank is hopeful other businesses and organizations will join us by offering incentives to encourage graduates to move back to the Cherokee area after furthering their education. This is a great community and we want our young people to come back here to live and work. There is opportunity right here."

Those interested can contact Cherokee State Bank for more information about the incentive program. Applications are available at the bank or the WHS counselor's office.
