HINTON - The South O'Brien boys nicked Hinton 8-6 after rallying with three runs in the seventh inning of a War Eagle Conference tussle here last week.
Ryan Brasser got the pitching win for the Wolverines, allowing no runs on two hits, one walk, and three strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings. Starter Aaron Giese gave up six runs on five hits and six walks, with three Ks in 4 2/3 innings.
Andy Puhrman led the SOS hitters with a 1-2 game, including three RBI and a run scored. Giese was 1-3 with two RBI, and Jarod Syndergaard was 2-3 with a run scored.
"We got hits at key times and pulled one out that maybe we didn't deserve to win," said SOS coach Justin Mohning. "Early, we jumped out to a 4-0 lead and things looked pretty good. Hinton chipped away and took the lead in the fifth. Aaron hit a hard ground ball up the middle to drive in two runs in the seventh to win the game and Ryan closed it out on the mound."
SOS is now 3-1 on the season.
