GALVA - Galva-Holstein defeated West Monona 10-6 in a MVC softball game

here on June 4th. The game was called in the 6th inning, due to rain and lightning.

The win improves Galva-Holstein's record to 4-5 overall and 2-1

in the conference.

Leading the way at the plate for the Lady Pirates was Brooke Weise, who went 3-3 with a triple and two RBI. Heather Joslin was 2-4, with a double and two RBI. Brea Slaybaugh & Victoria Andresen also drove in runs for the Lady Pirates.

Getting the win for G-H on the mound was sophomore Jaime Christensen, who threw six strong innings. The Lady Pirate hurler gave up six runs, but only two were earned. Christensen also gave up five hits, struck out three and walked five.

Coach Scott Phelps was pleased that his team got another conference

win and thought the Lady Pirates had "another good team effort."

"The kids are swinging the bats well right now, and it seems to be someone different every night," said Phelps. "We still need to work on being consistent with our defense, but that will come as long as we continue to work at it."
