GALVA - The Galva-Holstein girls improved their overall record to 5-5 and their conference record to 3-1 with an entertaining 3-0 win over Battle Creek-Ida Grove here on June 5th.

The Lady Pirates got a great pitching performance from sophomore Jaime Christensen, as she pitched seven innings, gave up only two hits, struck out five, and did not walk a single batter in the dynamic shut-out.

Leading the way at the plate for G-H was Heather Joslin, who went 2-3 with a double and an RBI. Also collecting RBI were Brooke Weise and Brittany Ridder, who also clubbed a double.

G-H Coach Scott Phelps was happy with his team's defensive play.

"We only committed one error," said the coach, "and in a tight game like

that it can mean the difference between winning & losing."

"Jaime made them put the ball in play." continued Phelps,"and we made the

plays despite the swirling wind. It was 0-0 in the 5th inning, and then we got some big hits at crucial times. It was a big win for our team, and gives us something to build on."
