Gehlen roughs up South O'Brien boys

PAULLINA - Le Mars Gehlen scored seven runs in the first two innings to claim a 14-2, five-inning War Eagle Conference baseball game over South O'Brien here on June 6th.

Leading hitters for the Wolverines were Andy Puhrman 1-3 with a two-run double, Mike Faust 1-1 with a run scored, and Pete Matthews 1-1.

South O'Brien sent four pitchewrs to the mound to try to stifle the Gehlen bats. Aaron Giese pitched one inning and gave up two earned runs on one hit and three walks, with two strikeouts. Ryan Brasser pitched 2 2/3 innings and gave up two earned runs on three hits and one walk, with three Ks. Jarod Syndergaard pitched one inning and gave up three earned runs on one hit and four walks, with one K. Puhrmann pitched 1/3 an inning and allowed one walk.

"Tonight was a rough one," said SOS coach Justin Mohning. "Things started out with a couple walks and an error. and things kept building from there. When you're a young team like we are, confidence becomes an issue. We have to be able to forget mistakes and not take them with us to the next opportunity."
