Jaime Christensen turned in another fine outing for the Lady Pirates on the mound, giving up three hits and one earned run, while walking one and striking out five. Leading hitters for G-H included Brea Slaybaugh, who went 4-4, scored two runs, drove in two and stole two bases; Heather Joslin, whose grand slam home run accounted for four runs; Brooke Weise, 2-3 with a triple and a RBI; and Michaela Else, who collected two doubles and also scored three times.
G-H coach Scott Phelps was happy with his team's effort, especially the fact that the team's 12 hits were scattered among seven different players, and that the defense played errorless ball.
"The kids are playing hard every night out," said Phelps, "and that's all we can ask."
G-H, now 13-8 on the season, plays in the annual Maple Valley Conference Tournament scheduled for June 20,21 and 23.
