Memorial services along with Eastern Star services were on June 25 at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, with Rev. Ray Kruger officiating. It was Virginia's request to be cremated. Burial of the cremation ashes was held in Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee.
Virginia was born March 23, 1921 at Cleghorn, to Donald S. and Lucy (Alber) Robinson. She graduated from Cleghorn High School in 1939, and attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, graduating in 1943. She worked as a school teacher, worked for the Cherokee County Department of Human Services for many years, and was the Director of the Homemaker Health Aid Program, retiring in 1980. She lived in Cleghorn until the late 1950's, when she moved to Cherokee.
Virginia was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star, and was most recently a member of the Alta Chapter #138. She enjoyed history, reading, and traveling to the east to visit relatives.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Eleanor Nelson, in 2001, and a nephew, Donald Ross Nelson, in 1983.
She is survived by three nieces: Christine Nelson of Blue Eye, Mo.; Mary Rydeen of Worthington, Minn. and Margaret Nelson of Minneapolis, Minn.
