Washta student interns for Grassley

Monday, July 7, 2008

Senator Chuck Grassley and Adam Ebert
WASHINGTON -- Adam Ebert, son of Lynn and Jerry Ebert of Washta, has just finished spending six weeks in Washington, D.C., working as an intern in Senator Chuck Grassley's office. Ebert is a senior at Iowa State University, majoring in agribusiness and international agriculture.

"Interning in my office in Washington D.C. is a valuable experience for any student who wants to get a first-hand look at how the Senate works," Grassley said. "Interns play an important role in my office and are given the opportunity to take full advantage of their surroundings. An internship is a unique opportunity for students to gain professional experience that will help them in their future endeavors."

Ebert, who is also a government relations intern with the Iowa Pork Producers Association this summer, worked as a legislative intern in Grassley's personal office, doing research and drafting messages to help with the Senator's legislative efforts.

"This internship has been a real learning experience," Ebert said. "I've grown up in production agriculture, and seeing agricultural legislative work on the other end of the spectrum gives a whole new perspective."

College students interested in becoming interns for Grassley in Washington, D.C. or any of his state offices should visit Grassley's web page at grassley.senate.gov.
