Braves beat SL, 10-7

STORM LAKE - The number- one- ranked Cherokee Braves scored five runs in the last two innings and remained unbeaten in Lakes Conference play with a 10-7 conquest of the Storm Lake Tornadoes in baseball action here on July 1.

Kyle Ruehle had three hits and four RBI, and Matt Koch slugged a home run and a double to pace the Braves' offensive attack. Tyler Jones also had two doubles, and Cody Ege had two RBI. Nolan Cone had a solo home run and Michael McCabe a single and double for Storm Lake.

Ege got the win on the mound for the Braves with 3 2/3 innings of two-hit pitching in relief of starter Matt Pitts, and Matt Koch came on in the 7th to earn a save.

The Lakes Conference champion Braves' record now stands at 23 -1 overall and 15-0 in the conference. They host Battle Creek-Ida Grove in first-round Regional Tournamnet play here on July 5th.
