GALVA - Galva-Holstein's softball season came to an end here on July 2 with a 5-1 first round Regional Tournament loss to River Valley. Taking the loss on the mound for G-H was Jaime Christensen who returned from a recent injury to pitch all seven innings, and gave up seven hits and five runs (two earned). Christensen also walked one batter and struck out two.

Leading the way at the plate for G-H were Emily Schiernbeck, who went 2-3 with a double and a run scored; Victoria Andresen, who also went 2-3, and Shannon Rohlk, who had an RBI single.

"River Valley hit the ball well and got some breaks at crucial times," said G-H coach Scott Phelps.

The Lady Pirates finish the season at 16-17 following a 15-8 start. Phelps said his team "just couldn't overcome all the injuries and bad breaks they had this year," but he looks forward to having the entire team return next season.
