The South O'Brien Wolverines improved their seaon mark to 19-9 (13-5 in the War Eagle Conference) with a regular season-ending 6-1 victory over Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn on July 1. Catcher Chelsie Rohrs led the South O'Brien offense with a 3 for 3 outing, including a double and an RBI. Her courtesy runner, Chloe Ebel, scored 2 runs.
The Wolverines had eight hits, collecting three in each of the second and third innings, when they did most of the damage and scored all six of their runs. Aphton Roberts hit a double, and Ashton Lansink, Christine Haden, Rachel Tilley, and Faith Wittrock each hit a single. Roberts earned the pitching win with an eight strikeout, two walk, four hit performance.
The freshman game was won by HMS, 5-3, while South O'Brien took the JV contest by a score of 8 -3. The JV concluded their season with an 11-5-1 record.
Wolverine coach Mary Helfter said, "We have finished the regular season on a four game winning streak, and we hope to carry that momentum into the post-season."
The Wolverines started the tournament run with a Regional Tournament game in Paullina against Unity Christian on July 9th.
