River Valley loses heartbreaker to rated O-A

The River Valley Wolverines dropped a "heartbreaking" game to state-ranked Odebolt-Arthur, 3-0, in the semi-finals of the Class 1A Regional Softball Tournament in Galva on July 9th.

The loss to the conference rival Trojans was disappointting, as Wolverine coach Erika Slota said RV "played a great game - the best we have played against them (Odebolt-Arthur)."

Senior hurler Jody Peterson was the hard-luck loser on the mound for River Valley, as she allowed just three hits, while striking out two and walking one.

RV, unfortunately, did not manage a single hit themelves. Slota said, "We hit the ball well, but it just happened to go right to them. We had a great year, up and down, but had a good group of girls to work with. We certainly will miss our seniors - Jody (Peterson), Alissa (Slota) and Trisha (Todd) next year."

All three RV seniors were named to the All-Maple Valley Conference team recently. Alissa Slota was named to the first team and Trisha Todd and Jody Peterson received honorable mention.

River Valley finished with a 10-16 mark in Coach Slota's first season at the helm.
