The 2008 Cherokee Washington High Braves toppled a 30-4 Fort Dodge St. Edmond's team 10-2 in a Class 2A Substate Championship battle July 16th in Carroll , to earn their fourth consecutive trip to the Iowa State Baseball Championships in Des Moines. Cherokee met Okoboji on July 19th in the quarterfinals at Principal Park in Des Moines.
